In case of fire....

Did you notice the hodge podge of color behind my sweet girl?
This is a quilt that my Mamaw Riddlehoover made me when I was a child.
She worked super hard to make all nine of us great-grandchildren one not too long before she passed away. This blanket is my prized possesion, it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, it makes you feel better when you are sick and it catches your tears when you are sad, it has been drug thru the dirt and used to make a tent and moved with me 5 times so far.
I have always said that if my house was on fire I would grab it and jump out the window.
And now seeing my baby laying on it so comfortably enjoying it makes me think of the sweet times to come. I know that in the not too distant future it will make a tent for her and soothe her when she is sick and make new memories with her and nothing makes me happier than to share it with my daughter! Mamaw was an amazing woman and she would have loved to see her babies-babies-babies-babies (4 generations) enjoying her handy work.

Okay you made 2 grown women cry while reading this. You're right, Mamaw R. would love to know Gracie is enjoying her work of love too.

That is so funny - Lorelai was snoozing this morning all tucked under my Mamaw quilt and I was thinking 1) awww - how precious that two things so precious to me are together and 2) oh, my word if she poops on that quilt I'll die - I don't think I could sleep without it! I wonder if she knew when she was making them what treasures they would become!
